Erin Winemiller, Assistant Principal Cello

Erin Winemiller, Assistant Principal Cellist, is an active freelance cellist who also regularly performs with Portland's Columbia Symphony Orchestra.  During the 2008-2009 season Erin also performed with the Portland Chamber Orchestra, Oregon East Symphony, Portland Symphonic Choir, Astoria Music Festival Orchestra, and in the BRAVO! Vancouver concert series.  A strong proponent of non-traditional avenues for collaboration and performance, Erin recorded and performed with the Portland Cello Project from 2007-2008.  She is also an active member of Classical Revolution PDX, a network of musicians performing diverse chamber works in settings that are more widely accessible than the concert hall.   Recently Erin performed in a series of film screenings sponsored by Filmusik, a project that endeavors to provide new opportunities and venues for musicians and actors by performing original, live soundtracks to films from the 1950s.  An active recitalist, Erin is cellist with the Classical Revolution PDX String Quartet, Ruslan String Quartet, Fleur-de-Lis Trio, and the Silverwood Trio, all Portland-based ensembles.  Erin maintains a private teaching studio in Portland and Vancouver and is on the faculty of the Chamber Music Camp of Portland at the University of Portland.  Erin's teachers have included David Tonkonogui (formerly of the Seattle Symphony), Hans Jorgen Jensen at Northwestern University, and Nancy Ives of the Oregon Symphony.
