Arts & Community Vitality: A Conversation on Culture, Health, and Connection

About

Join the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra USA for an inspiring evening celebrating the arts and their vital role in building healthy, vibrant, and connected communities.

The evening opens with a chamber music performance for cello and piano featuring acclaimed cellist Julian Schwarz, including a work by composer and panelist Karen LeFrak. This intimate performance sets the stage for a broader conversation about the power of music and creativity in civic life.

Following the performance, Fred Child, President & CEO of All Classical Radio and former host of NPR’s Performance Today and PBS’s Live from Lincoln Center, will moderate a panel discussion exploring the impact of the arts on the health and vitality of our region.

Panelists include Rachel Smolkin, President & CEO of Oregon Public Broadcasting; award-winning composer Karen LeFrak; Dr. Larry Sherman, neuroscientist and lifelong musician; Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle; and author and conductor Maestro Gerard Schwarz.

Together, these distinguished voices will consider how the arts enrich individual lives, strengthen communities, and contribute to a more vibrant and resilient society.

This event is free and open to the public. Reservations are encouraged.
