Verdi's Requiem

What You'll Hear

Giuseppe Verdi’s Messa da Requiem is a towering masterpiece of passion, drama, and profound emotion, often described as an opera in disguise, brought to life by the powerful voices of the Portland Symphonic Choir. From the hushed awe of the opening Requiem to the thunderous and unforgettable Dies Irae, Verdi transforms the traditional mass into a gripping theatrical journey that confronts fear, hope, and redemption. Few works rival the power of Verdi’s Requiem, an awe-inspiring, emotionally overwhelming masterpiece that captivates and moves audiences to the core.

The 2026/27 Symphonic Series season is presented by United Grain Corporation.
