In addition to providing world-renowned symphonic, chamber, pops and jazz concerts with internationally acclaimed guest artists, the VSO has become an educational cornerstone of the community. We believe that the VSO has a unique opportunity to lead significant social change through community-building music education programs. Annual in-school educational performances are geared towards providing necessary exposure to music and art to children of all ages. The VSO is the only performing arts organization in the area that provides such educational services for the community on this scale.

The Vancouver Symphony has worked closely with Southwest Washington School Districts for decades to identify schools that would benefit most from in-school educational concerts. Each concert includes performances by the entire VSO orchestra under the baton of Maestro Salvador Brotons, instrument demonstration and a Q&A session. The VSO also provides complimentary concert vouchers for low-income children and an accompanying adult. Over 5,000 children benefit annually from VSO educational outreach.
